Based on studies, children who are not on car seats has the greater risk of serious injuries or worst die in an event of car accidents or even in abrupt stops even in low speeds.

Car seats manufacturer’s recommends the proper use of car seats by following the manufacturer’s recommendation to provide maximum security.

The use of car seat is a must in the following conditions:

1. For infants less than 20 lbs.

Use an infant car seats that reclines and faces the rear. If your car has a passenger-side air bag, it is recommended to place the car seat in the back seat of the car. Don’t forget to follow the manufacturer’s instruction.

2. For infants and children over 20 lbs. The use of toddler seat is recommended. Use a toddler seat that faces the front that has a shield or harness. Majority of infant seats today can also be converted into a toddler seats.

3. Children over the age of four and over 40 lbs. A car seat that has a booster seat that raises the child is recommended. It is because, children of these age loved to peak on the window. A regular lap and shoulder belts can also be use, but be sure to adjust the shoulder belt to fit across the shoulder and not the neck of the child.

And the best way to train our children to develop a habit of wearing seat belts, is simply by setting a good example to them by always wearing our own seat belt and always insist that they too have to buckle up.
